Leaders in Placing Americans with Disabilities in Jobs

NTI Success Stories

Kimberly

“I came to my current job in 2007, after working the NTI IRS program.  Prior to that I did work outside the home and I don’t drive so transportation was an issue.  So, I started to look for work at home jobs.  After my time with the IRS I searched the NTI site for another employment opportunity.  This is how I found my current position with a super-store located in the Midwest.  Ohio Rehabilitation Services gave me the information to start with as well as setting me up with a job coach who helped me with my interview skills and resume.  I believe this was a big part in me getting both jobs at NTI.  I was well prepared for both interviews I had.

My job is interesting and fulfilling.  Each day is never the same and the interaction with the customers gives me great joy.  I take store calls and well as assist customers with web orders.

I was born legally blind and developed epilepsy in my teen years.  Due to this I was never able to obtain a drivers’ license.  Not having to worry about how I will get to and from work each day has taken a big weight off my shoulders.  Being a teleworker has been more fulfilling to my career than I could have ever imagined.  Getting to speak with many different people each day is amazing.  Being able to help them solve a problem is rewarding.  I am also more comfortable in my own home where I can set things up as I like them which makes it easier for me to see.  In my previous work setting (out of the home) it was harder to do that. “
